The Day You Stop Carrying the Old Year Into the New One

December 31, 20252 min read

December 31 is a powerful day.

Not because the clock strikes midnight — but because it invites you to pause.

To reflect.
To breathe.
To decide.

For many women I work with, this date carries mixed emotions. Gratitude for what survived. Grief for what was lost. Relief that a hard year is ending. Fear about what comes next.

And if you’ve been through separation or divorce this year, you may be feeling all of it at once.

Here’s what I want you to know today:

You do not need to carry this year into the next one.

This year may have broken your heart.
It may have humbled you.
It may have forced you to let go of a life you thought you’d have.

But it has also shown you something important — even if you don’t fully see it yet.

You survived.

Not because it was easy.
Not because you were ready.
But because there is a strength in you that rises when it has to.

December 31 is not about judging the year that’s been.
It’s about choosing what you release — and what you keep.

You get to leave behind:
• The self-blame
• The stories that keep you small
• The guilt for not knowing then what you know now
• The habit of putting yourself last

And you get to carry forward:
• The wisdom you earned
• The boundaries you learned
• The clarity you gained
• The woman you are becoming

You don’t need a perfectly clear plan for the new year.

You only need one decision:

“I am no longer living in survival. I am choosing myself.”

Healing doesn’t happen because the calendar changes.
It happens because you do.

And if this year taught you anything, let it be this — you are allowed to build a life that feels peaceful, meaningful, and aligned. You are allowed to want more than just “getting through.”

As this year closes, place a hand on your heart and acknowledge how far you’ve come.

Then step forward — not as the woman you were forced to be…
But as the woman you are choosing to become.
