After my divorce, I felt awful. I was sad. I hardly smiled
. I had dreams about my ex and didnt know who I was anymore. I woke regularly. I was burned-out emotionally, exhausted physically, and
my soul was crushed.
I missed my old life and felt I was in limbo…
I decided something had to change…
I figured out right away that binging and numbing with food, wine
, furniture shopping, and Netflix
wasn’t going to work for me. Neither was constant social media scrolling or getting lost in
dating apps.
So…I researched (since I love learning
) and started experimenting with anything that had some data behind it: self-help audio books, self-care, meditation, counselling, therapy, NLP, trauma therapy, family dynamics therapy, strategic intervention, somatic healing… you name it, I studied it.
What I see is most people trying to get through their divorce using coping mechanisms… instead of dealing with the CORE UNDERLYING ISSUES that cause them to suffer.
What I discovered was that doing yoga, going to the gym, joining meetup groups, praying, starting to date, doing counseling or just talking about your problems wasn't going to fix them.
Whilst none of these things are “bad” or “wrong”, and they keep you entertained, they don’t focus of HEALING the underlying issues.
Coping & numbing used to be the only options available to get through a divorce. So…if you’ve been doing all the “normal” things, too, it’s only because nobody had put together the information that we know really works.
